    Description

1832 VoArSh Cuzco 8 escudos graded AU53. This is the sole example in the PCGS census, and neither of the 2 coins in the NGC census was graded above AU. The 1832 Cuzco 8E is perhaps the only Peruvian coin to ever have 3 assayer marks on it. Coin has much luster and is solid for the grade.
The names of the assayers listed on the coin are Valdivieso (Vo), Aguilar (Ar) and Smith (Sh). Aguilar and Smith were appointed assayers in Cuzco upon the death of the previous assayer, Gregorio Carril (1831 Cuzco 8E bear the assayer mark "G"). Valdivieso was the bookkeeper at the Ayacucho Mint and was sent to Cuzco to inspect the assayer's office. (
